A leading national specialty retailer with a large-scale distribution network is seeking a DC Operations Manager to join their Distribution Center Management team in Greenwood, Indiana. This is an ongoing, open opportunity with one of the country's most recognized retail brands — known for operating hundreds of retail locations and a robust e-commerce platform nationwide.
The DC Operations Manager leads cross-functional teams of non-exempt associates to improve processes, achieve financial and operational excellence, and deliver superior results for retail, operational, and service-related industry and e-commerce functions. This role carries primary responsibility for managing and implementing operational upgrades while maintaining all aspects of people, process, and performance to achieve service excellence. The ability to partner cross-functionally and influence across all levels of the organization is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Champion and uphold the company's mission, vision, and values
- Influence accountability to plan, execute, and achieve objectives aligned with company strategy for growth and profit
- Identify patterns and anticipate business needs that drive performance
- Deliver efficient and effective solutions balancing cost, time, and scope
- Identify strategic trade-offs between store, labor, inventory availability, and upstream expenses
- Measure process changes and accurately quantify impact
- Coordinate cross-functionally to launch new initiatives and track performance
- Raise awareness of process change impacts throughout the enterprise
- Facilitate proactive change management across all organizational levels via project rollouts
- Influence key stakeholders to achieve results autonomously
- Determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow; recommend staffing for maximum resource utilization
- Recommend methods to improve associate efficiency and reduce waste (e.g., restructuring job duties, merging workflows, adjusting job status)
- Participate in training and testing of new systems and processes as part of implementation plans
- Lead and evaluate best practices to promote associate engagement and enablement
- Partner with leadership to build culture action plans aligned with people strategies and business initiatives
- Build and develop team capabilities at all levels while identifying training and development opportunities
- Plan and drive coordination of non-exempt staffing needs
- Lead role-wide performance management classes in partnership with leadership teams
- Participate in talent calibration, culture survey action planning, goal setting, performance review consultation, and continuous improvement/process enhancement initiatives
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams with diverse goals and responsibilities
- Proven skill in driving initiatives related to teams, projects, and quality
- Excellent analytical and organizational skills; able to execute troubleshooting and prioritize a fast-paced workload
- Ability to quickly learn business processes outside one's area of expertise
- Familiarity with innovation and process improvement methodologies
- Strong computer skills (specifically MS Office, WMS applications)
- A Bachelor's degree is preferred but not required
- Demonstrated knowledge of distribution and e-commerce operations in a retail environment
Essential Functions / Work Conditions:
- Work rotation with 24/7 on-call support as needed
- Flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Travel, including overnight stays
- Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time
- Exposure to distribution center conditions, which may include loud noises, variable temperatures, a dusty environment, and strong scents related to consumer products
- Visit retail stores to develop an understanding of the store experience and collaborate with field partners
