Director of Sales
About the Company
Our client is a growing education technology services company that partners with K–12 school districts across the United States. They help schools get the most value from their technology investments by supporting the full lifecycle of district-owned devices, from acquisition and protection through repair and end-of-life recovery.
Role Summary
This is a rare chance for an experienced sales leader to build a sales function from the ground up. As Director of Sales, you will report directly to the CEO and own revenue growth across the business. You will design the sales processes, build and lead the team, manage the pipeline, and shape the company’s growth strategy. This role suits a leader who knows how school districts buy hardware and who wants real ownership and visible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, track, and forecast the company’s revenue plan, and give leadership regular performance updates.
- Own the full sales pipeline, from the handoff of a sales-qualified lead (SQL) to the signed agreement, and keep CRM records accurate.
- Deliver weekly revenue forecasts within ±10% accuracy, and flag pipeline risks and opportunities early.
- Build and develop a high-performing sales team: define roles, recruit, coach, and manage performance.
- Work closely with Marketing to turn qualified leads into customers, and keep improving lead generation and handoff processes.
- Set up external referral partnerships and represent the company at industry events.
- Work with senior leadership on business strategy, revenue planning, and growth opportunities.
- Build scalable sales systems, processes, and reporting structures that support long-term growth.
Qualifications & Requirements
- K–12 sales experience, with a strong grasp of how school districts purchase, including IT directors, procurement, RFPs, board approvals, and budget cycles.
- Experience selling hardware or device-related solutions into the K–12 education sector. A background in hardware purchasing is required; a purely SaaS sales background will not be enough.
- Strong consultative selling skills: you can understand customer challenges and shape the right solution for them.
- Experience building sales processes, systems, or teams, or a clear commitment to building a sales function from scratch.
- Proven leadership, with the ability to coach, develop, and manage high-performing sales teams.
- Strong skills in CRM, sales analytics, pipeline management, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the confidence to present revenue performance, forecasts, and sales strategy to executive leadership.
- A collaborative approach to working across Sales, Marketing, and senior leadership.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience building or scaling a sales department, including its processes, systems, and team structures.
- Experience leading sales teams in the K–12 education technology or hardware industry.
- Experience developing strategic partnerships and referral networks that drive growth.
- A track record of improving sales processes, pipeline visibility, and revenue forecasting.
- Experience working directly with executive leadership on sales strategy and company growth.
What’s in It for You
- Full ownership of building and leading a sales function from the ground up.
- A direct line to the CEO and real influence on business strategy and growth.
- A competitive base salary of $110,000, reviewed annually.
- On-target earnings of $185,000–$220,000+, with uncapped variable compensation.
- Performance incentives that include SQL conversion bonuses, close bonuses, and an annual revenue goal bonus.
- Company-sponsored health insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, and support for professional development.
